Just noticed from the Ailesbury site that Trinity, Strand, Ailesbury & Dollymount have made the semis of the Dickie Knight - congrats to all.
This follows on form the Challenge Cup final between Ailesbury & Clontarf and the league currently being fought out between Trinity & North.
In fact of the southside team in the premier, Stedfast, VEC & Bray are currently 5th, 6th & 7th, Mary's are 10th and Balally apparently have folded.
Why is there such a difference in standards - surely with the population on the southside there should be at least one team challenging from something?
This is not something that has just happened - as far as I can recall the last southside team to win the league was Stedfast back in the late 1990's/early 2000's and the same with the challenge cup. I know Stedfast did beat VEC to win the Knight cup 2 years ago.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this - doesn't look like changing any time soon - even the promoted division 1 teams recently are Northside - Sportslink/North/Glasnaoin?
